We are SO EXCITED that you are preparing for your 1st Holy Communion with us! Like the video says - it is made to be done with child AND parent (and maybe even the whole family!) So make sure everyone is here and ready! ALSO there is a RETREAT that is part of this program. So make sure you are signed up. Let's go!
Watch the video then answer the questions below:
Watch the video then answer the questions below.
1. Was there enough food in the beginning?
2. After Jesus gave thanks was there enough food? More than enough?
3. Take a moment to imagine you are there in the crowd, watching Jesus multiply the loves and fish. Think of everything you see, hear and smell. Now imagine you see the 12 baskets of leftovers from only 5 loaves and 2 fish. What do you feel? Are you surprised? Can Jesus do anything? What might you want to ask Jesus in this moment?
*Note: Please be sure to pick up your craft kit from the parish office in order to complete this step. (Craft requires parent supervision.)
You will need:
A candle is given to us at baptism to remind us to keep the light of faith burning in our hearts. Fire can keep us warm and can help us see in the dark. Jesus is our light who gives us his love in a special way when we feel sad, scared or alone but also when we feel joy, peace and happiness. A candle can also help us to focus when we say our prayers. You might want to light your candle each time you begin your First Communion Preparation - or create a "prayer corner" in your house with it so you can spend some quiet time with Jesus.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our tresspasses.
As we forgive those who tresspass against us.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
AMEN.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now,
and at the hour of our death.
AMEN.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and will be forever,
AMEN.
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I welcome You into my soul.
Stay close with me always,
so I may follow you forever.
AMEN.
